The rain lashed the streets of Goa, as a heady fragrance of gulmohur was rafting in the air. The hills around seemed to laugh out loud as the rains bathe it out. Thus, basking in the glory of the rains we entered the beautiful city of Panaji in Goa. Goa a state famous for celebrations, revelry and a nice holiday but this time around we were here for serious business. Still one cannot escape the hands of fun when in Goa so the two days at Goa proved to be a roller coaster of a fun filled mentoring journey for the team of Mentor on Road.
Mr. Amey Karmali- Goa Local Mentor |
The first stint at Goa was the meeting with the members of Gujarati Samaj at Margao. The focus area here was Make in India and it was heartening to see the energy and the enthusiasm which people had towards this. The growing prospect of going online and the perks involved in this was another facet of the deliberations here which seemed to strike a chord with all. Post this we meet the members of the Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The participants comprised of young entrepreneurs and professionals with an energy that was almost contagious. Here we had an interactive session on Innovative approaches to Make in India and how to venture in the international markets. A lot of these entrepreneurs wished to utilise this vast opportunity that the global markets offer and they wished to know the nitty gritties of export. Thus it was decided that Mentor on Road would provide them constant support and mentoring in the export process.
The next stop took us right into the lap of nature in a beautiful place called Wildernest at Chorla Ghats. Wildernest was an expanse of beauty build by an eccentric nature lover Capt Nitin Dhond. The glistening drops of water falling down up from the hills, as the thick green hills surrounds us all, the flowers open with droplets of water shining like pearls and the birds chirp out loud and the panoramic vision of Goa. Ah!!! nature and its bliss. As we continued in the jeep rides and enjoyed our date with the beauty of nature what was heartening to see was that all the staffs were from places around this area.
“A mentor empowers a person to see the possible future, and believe it can be obtained” this was the emotion which ran high, as we visited Centre for Incubation and Business Acceleration (CIBA). Here we had an opportunity to meet many incubatee companies, the majority of them were working in the area of food processing and IT domain. What was heartening to see here was young individuals from diverse domains pursuing their entrepreneurial dreams successfully. Like we had a 33 years old banker who had successfully started a spice liqueur company armada, then there was a 29 years miner who had started chickodell a health bar chiki, then there was a company producing candy fruits under the name candy fruit ninja which was started by a 28 years old.As we interacted with these young individuals who had a passion unsurmountable what we realised was that these individuals really wanted to explore the international soils. Thus, we decided to mentor these companies so that they could harness the opportunities present globally.
The eventful day at Goa came to an end in the midst of the Mandovi river with the waves tossing by as we had a meet with young entrepreneurs of Goa in a boat cruise. As the evening set in our talk continued as these individuals were charged up to vehemently pursue the concept of Make in India. So, slowly as the cruise continued its journey and approached the docks it was time for us to bid adieu to the vibrant state of Goa as we made our way to the city of ports Mangalore.
