Power packed day @ Belgaum

The loud roar of thunder  pierced the sky while the rains lashed against our window and through this curtain of rain so formed a blurred image paved out loud. Blurred images of large windmills adorning the highway dancing as if in joy as the wind tossed them round and forth and the rains drenched them out loud. This was the scene that greeted us as we entered the beautiful city of Belgaum.  Really nature at its best! Emerging out from this mystical beauty of nature we then geared up ready to face the daunting yet exciting day at Belgaum.

Belgaum  is steadily emerging as an  educational hub so our day at Belgaum rightly began at Karnataka Law Society’s Gogte Institute of Technology (GIT), where we interacted with young minds from the engineering and MBA department. The theme for the discussion was international market access and innovative approaches to Make in India. The interaction with the students was very fruitful and it was heartening to see the energy they exuded and their innate desire to contribute the Make in India concept. The very important learning we had from this session was that the youth of our country are motivated, what they require is a hand to guide them, to pick them up when they fall down and to clap out loud when they achieve something great. Next we headed to meet the members of the Belgaum Foundry Cluster. Foundry industry as we know is one of the most important and rapidly growing industry cluster in Belgaum thus the development of this is indomitable to improve the economy of Belgaum. The session here comprised of a presentation on Make in India and international trade and as we wanted to have real knowledge dissemination we then had an interactive Q&A session where many a doubts were raised, cleared and suggestions were made.

As the day matured and our stomachs growled we then headed to have lunch at a QUARRY! This quarry represented innovative thinking at its best as this was an abandoned quarry which was now converted to a party plot. This idea  gave us a glimpse of the innovative and enterprising nature of the people of Belgaum. After having a sumptuous meal here our next stop was IMER where we addressed the members of TIE. The interaction here was largely focussed on challenges faced by SME and our partners SAP, YES Bank and DTDC tried to address some of these challenges which SME’s face, as they presented solutions in the area of their expertise. As the deliberations continued we gauged that Belgaum was facing problems mainly on the infrastructure end due to which it was not able to develop to its full potential. At the SME meeting at multi skill development center it was pointed out that there was a huge skill gap in Belgaum due to which the need of the hour was to increase the industry academia and government interaction. The role of all these three entities are critical, thus their healthy interaction is indomitable to build an ecosystem for knowledge and fruitful economy growth.

Belgaum gave us a sneak peak of the enterprising nature of the people here as we had an interactive session with two progressive companies one working in the field of digital India and the other in the domain of manufacturing for defense offset. We then headed to meet the members of Gujarati Samaj with whom we had an interaction on the importance of regional linguistics and the need to involve in CSR activities.
As evening approached tranquility surrounded us all around as we visited Rama Krishna Mission where Swami Vivekananda had resided. The air of this place was rift with an indescribable positivity that touched our very soul. Hence, feeling this aura of positivity we then met five entrepreneurs. Two of these entrepreneurs had started their journey a long time back  and  had received training in the area of international trade and exports under us. These individuals had worked relentlessly  and it was like a proud  parent proud moment for us when we saw that both of them were working well and were successful  in the domain of exports. So with all these meetings, conversations and deliberations our day came to an end at Belgaum.

Belgaum left us high with a whirlpool of emotions like peace, tranquility, innovation, exuding energy and a feeling of pride. Thus, with this myriad of emotions we then slowly started our journey with a zeal of positivity towards the heart of Goa Panaji
