Day 7 - Dehradun

7th December 2015

Drove from Chandigarh to Dehradun. Passed through the well planned streets & junctions of Chandigarh and connected to NH 21 then NH 22 & finally NH 72. As soon as we entered Uttarakhand, it was completely green & mountainous. Natural beauty was amazing. We stopped at many places to enjoy the gift of God which mankind is killing, leading to chennai flood type of situations.
Reached Dehradun & entered the hustle bustle of the city life.

Visited Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple :
I learned it has one of the oldest Shiva lings is in the cave nearby where the river enters and water drops drip down on the Shiva ling. The small cave with this splendid scenery is said to be once resided by Dronacharya- the teacher of Pandavas and Kauravas in Hindu holy epic Mahabharata written by Ved Vyas. The cave is named Drona Cave after his name.

Later I visited a Tibetan Buddhist Temple which teaches religious skills. It is located in Happy Valley, it commands grand views of the astounding valleys. The temple in itself is a vibrant burst of colours, with its bright walls and flowering blooms in varied colours. It was soul soothing.
